I was lucky enough to catch a little bit of the Michael Jackson memorial service at the Staples Center live today (though I’m sure it’ll get plenty of replay), and found Brooke Shields’ speech particularly moving. Here it is below:

Coline Covington, a British psychoanalyst, wrote Narcissism Killed the Man in the Mirror in reaction to Michael Jackson’s death. It is an interesting look at how Jackson’s deriving of self-worth from an adoring public may have doomed him. A brief excerpt is below:
