With all the ills in the country and the world at large, it is high time Pres. Obama get off my flat screen and behind a desk. He somehow has time, long after the election, to appear on “The Tonight Show,” “The Daily Show,” “60 Minutes” and most recently to tape a segment to be aired on the “Colbert Report” in Iraq. He also broadcasts prime time specials to get his message out to the people- that is what the weekly radio address (now also available in video form online) is for. It is hard not to draw the comparison between Obama’s media stampede and the man who got the Big Government ball rolling, FDR, whose Fireside Chats reassured the poor weekly that things would get better, while his policies kept those very same people poor for over a decade.
God help us if the President next thinks it’s a good idea to join the cast of “I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!” or to simply guest star on an episode of “The Hills.” America needs a real leader, not a cheerleader.
